Upstairs at Caroline – A Daytime Kid-Friendly Venue in Downtown Austin, TX

If you’re looking for a fun, laid-back spot in downtown Austin where you can bring the kids during the day, Upstairs at Caroline is a fantastic choice. This rooftop patio bar, located above Caroline Restaurant on Congress Avenue, is typically known as a lively social hub, but during daylight hours, it transforms into a relaxed and family-friendly venue.
We visited the week of. Christmas with the kids and it was very calm with lots of festive decorations. We specifically went so that the kids could make s’mores and play lawn games. It was difficult to find kid-friendly places in Downtown Austin, so this spot worked out well for us.

A Rooftop Escape in the Heart of the City
Austin is full of great outdoor spaces, but few offer the cool, urban rooftop vibe that Upstairs at Caroline does. The open-air deck is shaded with plenty of seating, making it an ideal spot to relax with the family while enjoying great food and fresh air.
Upstairs at Caroline is located at 109 E 7th St, Austin, TX 78701, on cross street Congress Avenue. We parked in a nearby parking garage because we planned on also walking around the area.
